I have just completed my maiden voyage into the dark world of collagraphy, and am generally pleased with the results. The range of values possible is massive, and the materials don’t get cheaper. However, I would think that accurately creating an edition is challenging.
There are now six prints that are a combination of relief print (linoleum) and collagraph. The plan is to print my final linoleum plate over the collagraphs once they’re all dry.
Below: the collagraph plate. This was made with paper, plaster, glue, and matte medium.
Below: the plate inked.
Below: collagraph over relief print. In retrospect, I wish that I had bothered to properly register the collagraph plate.
Below: two color relief print. The plate used to print these darker lines will be printed on top of the collagraphs.
